Terms of use
These terms explain what you can expect from Excelsior Preceptor and what we ask of you in return. By using this website or engaging our placement service, you agree to them. We have kept them plain, and if anything is unclear you are welcome to ask before you commit.
Who we are and our independence
Excelsior Preceptor is an independent placement service. We help Excelsior nursing students meet requirements their programs leave to them; we do not act on Excelsior's behalf, and nothing we say changes what your program, faculty, or accreditor require. Excelsior's own catalog and your faculty are always the final word on what your program needs.
What our service covers
We help you arrange the three things Excelsior asks you to source yourself: a qualified mentor, meaning an individual with a master's degree or higher and expertise in your specialization who volunteers to serve as your resource; a practice-experience site or agency, together with any affiliation agreement and CastleBranch compliance steps; and an independent capstone project the site will host and your faculty will approve. Excelsior faculty approve the mentor, the site, and the project. We source and coordinate them; we do not approve them, and we do not provide clinical instruction or supervise your practice experience.
What we do not guarantee
We work hard to line up a strong match, but we cannot promise a specific named mentor, a specific site, or a specific project, because availability changes and because your faculty must approve what we bring. We also cannot guarantee that Excelsior will accept a particular arrangement, that you will pass a course, or that you will graduate by a certain date. Those outcomes depend on you, on your faculty, and on the site, not on us alone. You remain responsible for meeting your program's deadlines and for your own conduct at the practice-experience site.
Fees and pay when matched
We charge a flat placement fee, and you pay it only once your mentor and site are confirmed. Our fee covers sourcing, verification, and the affiliation-agreement and compliance legwork. It is never a payment to your mentor, who volunteers, and it is not tuition. We will tell you the fee before you commit, and if we cannot line up a workable mentor and site for you, you do not owe the placement fee. Any specific refund or reschedule terms for a given placement will be set out in what we send you at the time.
Your responsibilities
- Give us accurate information about your program, timeline, and location so we can plan a realistic placement.
- Complete the compliance steps the site requires, such as background checks, drug screening, and immunizations, on time.
- Confirm your program's exact requirements against your current Excelsior catalog and with your faculty.
- Treat your mentor, the site, and its staff and patients professionally, and follow the site's rules.
Website content and liability
We keep the information on this site accurate to the best of our knowledge and verify it against Excelsior's published program pages, but program details change, so treat this site as general guidance rather than official Excelsior policy. To the extent the law allows, we are not liable for indirect or consequential losses arising from your use of the site or the service. Nothing in these terms limits any right you have that cannot lawfully be limited.
Changes to these terms
We may update these terms from time to time. When we do, we will change the date below, and your continued use of the site means you accept the updated terms. If you have any question about them, contact us in live chat or by email.
