This policy explains what information Excelsior Preceptor collects, how we use it, and the choices you have. We keep it plain on purpose. If anything here is unclear, ask us in live chat or by email and we will explain it.
What we collect
We collect only what you give us and the basic technical data any website receives. Specifically:
- Details you enter in our forms or chat: your name, email address, phone number, your Excelsior program, and anything you choose to tell us about your city, capstone term, workplace, or project idea.
- Messages you send us through the contact form, the newsletter form, the placement forms, the seasonal offer form, or live chat.
- Standard technical information your browser sends, such as your approximate location, device and browser type, and the pages you view, which help us keep the site working and secure.
We do not ask for sensitive information such as health records or financial account numbers through this site, and you should not send those to us.
How we use it
We use your information for one main purpose: to plan and coordinate your practice-experience placement. That means understanding your program and timeline, sourcing a qualified mentor and a practice-experience site, helping with the affiliation agreement and compliance steps, and replying to your questions. If you join our newsletter, we use your email to send occasional placement tips, and you can unsubscribe at any time. We do not use your information to make automated decisions that affect you.
Do we sell or share your data?
No. We do not sell your personal information, and we do not rent or trade it. We share it only where it is necessary to deliver the service you asked for or where the law requires it. That can include the mentor or site we are coordinating on your behalf, and trusted service providers who help us operate, such as our form and messaging platform, who are bound to protect it and use it only for us. We are an independent service and do not send your information to Excelsior University; if Excelsior needs something from you, that comes directly through your Excelsior enrollment.
How long we keep it
We keep your information only as long as we need it to help with your placement and to keep reasonable business records. When it is no longer needed, we delete it or remove the details that identify you. You can ask us to delete your information sooner, as described below.
Your choices and how to request deletion
You can ask us at any time to show you what we hold about you, correct it, or delete it. To make a request, email privacy@excelsiorpreceptor.com or message us in live chat, and tell us what you would like us to do. We will act on your request within a reasonable time. If you no longer want our newsletter, use the unsubscribe link in any email or ask us and we will remove you.
Security and updates
We take reasonable steps to protect your information, but no method of transmission over the internet is perfectly secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security.
